Troubleshooting Your Connection on Android - Illuminati IM150
My Illuminati IM150 Wireless Light & Color Meter is not connecting any more with my Android mobile device.
The Illuminati Meter app uses a BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) connection to connect to the Illuminati IM150 Wireless Light & Color Meter. This is in general a pretty reliable connection.
The following information is designed to help troubleshoot those issues and get you going again.
If you are on Android 12 or higher:
- Turn on Location Services on your Android phone. If they are off, the app won’t find the meter. If Location Services was off, try connecting again. If Location Services was on and there is still no connection, proceed to step 2.
- Make sure the Nearby devices permissions are enabled for the Illuminati Meter app:
- Go to your Device Settings app
- Scroll down and tap Apps
- Scroll down and tap the Illuminati Meter app
- Tap Permissions or Nearby devices permissions
- Make sure nearby devices are allowed for the Illuminati Meter app
Try connecting again and there is still no connection, proceed to step 3. - Clear the bonding state in your phone and your meter:
On the IM150 meter: press and hold the power button for 10 seconds – until you see the LEDs start to blink magenta. Then let go of the button. Turn off the meter.
On your Android 12 or higher mobile device: Go to Settings, Connected Devices, Bluetooth. Find the Illuminati Meter entry and Forget it.
Next: From the settings -> Bluetooth section, turn off Bluetooth. The reason for doing this is to reset the Bluetooth “stack”. Give it 10 or 15 seconds, and turn Bluetooth back on. - Turn on the meter.
Start the Illuminati Meter app.
The meter should find the app automatically, and a purple tile will be created for you. Click on the tile to see the meter settings.
One other thing you can try is to re-start your phone after step 3 above.
If you are on Android 11 or lower:
- Turn on Location Services on your Android phone. If they are off, the app won’t find the meter. If Location Services was off, try connecting again. If Location Services was on and there is still no connection, proceed to step 2.
