My previous Spyders sometimes needed adjustment when I put them on my monitor to get direct contact with the screen. I’ve been told this is not nearly as important with Spyder X. Is this true, and if so, why?
Spyder X uses a brand-new Lens-based Color Engine. Instead of taking contact measurements of the screen, it is viewing the screen through a large lens within Spyder X which is set back from the screen. It also means Spyder X does not need perfect screen contact or to exactly read the screen accurately. While we don’t recommend calibrating screens with Spyder X at an angle, it is reassuring that any small gap should not have significant effects on the results.
