My Spyder X2 Elite / Spyder X2 Ultra can not be found on macOS 26 Tahoe - seldom this also occurred on macOS 15 Sequoia
Sometimes after installing the latest Spyder X2 software update or the installation of a macOS upgrade, it can be possible that your Spyder X2 software does not detect the Spyder X2 Elite / Spyder X2 Ultra sensor any more.
What to check first:
Please first make sure you have the latest Spyder X2 software installed. You can download from here.
When you run the Spyder X2 software for your Spyder X2 Elite or Spyder X2 Ultra sensor you will see in the title bar or the Spyder X2 software the name of the software Spyder X2 + the version number:
By this you can be sure to run the right software.
Please check this next:
Please go to the Spyder X2 preferences. Go to the Menu “Spyder X2” menu (next to the Apple menu top left of the display) -> menu “Settings”.
Under Sensor try to select "Spyder X2" in the drop down filed.
If it jumps back to <None> while the Spyder X2 Elite / Spyder X2 Ultra sensor is plugged in please follow the provided solution below.
What to do
Go to the folder: MacHD/Users/YOUR USERNAME/Library/Preferences/Datacolor/Spyder X2/
IMPORTANT: This folder is hidden by default.
Open a Finder window and go to the “Go” menu (Finder menu bar) and press the 'Option' on older keyboards the ‘ALT’ key.
While you have the Go menu open, an additional menu item, “Library,” will be shown as long as the 'Option' /'ALT' key is pressed.
This is the fastest way to access the user library. You can also find instructions online on how to make the user library permanently visible.
In the folder: MacHD/Users/YOUR USERNAME/Library/Preferences/Datacolor/Spyder X2/
you will find a file:
Preferences.xml
Delete this file.
Now restart the Spyder X2 software and the Spyder X2 Elite / Spyder X2 Ultra sensor should be detected by the Spyder X2 software.
